"Building a Church Through Outreach"
ELCOG 3/4/07 Text: Mark 3:23-30 Tonight, I want to look at a sentence that Jesus used to help illustrate His point in our text. In verse 27, Jesus says, "You cant enter a strong mans house to rob him unless you tie him up." The strong man that he was referring to was Satan. He was accused of being full of the devil and casting out devils, because he was a devil, but Jesus says, Im not the devil. That doesnt even make sense. A house divided against itself can not stand. If the kingdom fights against itself the kingdom is sure to lose. But Jesus says, Im not of the devil, but I am about to tie him up for all to see that I am going to destroy him. The devil has no place running loose in our lives or in our families, its time to tie him up. If you are going to get your spoil, if you are going to get your stuff then you are going to have to tie up the strong man! We have the devil on the run and we need to chase him harder and father out of town. 1 John 3:8 8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil. You have the power if Christ in your life and you need to stop tip toeing around and begin to take the power that comes to you through Jesus Christ. Barge into Satans house and tie him down and destroy his works and take your stuff back. Tie him up!
Col. 2:13 13You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ. He forgave all our sins.
Col. 2:14 14He canceled the record that contained the charges against us. He took it and destroyed it by nailing it to Christs cross.
Col. 2:15 15In this way, God disarmed the evil rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross of Christ.
Col. 2:16 16So dont let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new-moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.
Col. 2:17 17For these rules were only shadows of the real thing, Christ himself.
Col. 2:18 18Dont let anyone condemn you by insisting on self-denial. And dont let anyone say you must worship angels, even though they say they have had visions about this. These people claim to be so humble, but their sinful minds have made them proud.
Col. 2:19 19But they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For we are joined together in his body by his strong sinews, and we grow only as we get our nourishment and strength from God.
Col. 2:20 20You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the evil powers of this world. So why do you keep on following rules of the world, such as,
Col. 2:21 21"Dont handle, dont eat, dont touch."
I know that in one time of my life I was in bondage to my and sins, and maybe some of you are in bondage tonight, but tonight I dont live in bondage I live in freedom because Christ has made me free. He makes me alive because he forgave me of all my sins. He washed my sins away and made me a new creature. God has disarmed the enemy! He has shamed the devil in a public place by destroying the works of the devil on the cross. Satan has been disarmed! He is powerless because of the blood, so enter his area and tie him up and get your family back. Go in and tie up Satan and get your peace and joy back. You are no longer condemned because Christ has set you free! You have been set free from the powers of evil so stop falling into that same trap, you are free from those chains, walk out of here and take your authority in this world and claim your city for Christ! People keep screaming at you, "Dont handle, dont eat, dont touch" Stop listening to the law of this world and realize that Jesus Christ has given you freedom to tread on serpents. If you drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt you. You can lay hands on the sick and they can recover why? Because Jesus has destroyed the works of the devil!
Heb. 2:14 14Because Gods children are human beingsmade of flesh and bloodJesus also became flesh and blood by being born in human form. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the Devil, who had the power of death.
Heb. 2:15 15Only in this way could he deliver those who have lived all their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
God has set you free. You have the power to go in and posses your possessions. Tie up the devil and get your blessings. 1 John 4:4 4But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won your fight with these false prophets, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of GodYe are under the influence of the Divine Spirit, and have overcome themyour testimony, proceeding from the Spirit of Christ, has invalidated theirs which has proceeded from the influence of Satan; for greater is the Holy Spirit which is in you, than the spirit which is in the world.
C.U.I (Christians Under the Influences) we need more C.U.Is! We need more church members living under the influence of God and his power. You can tie up the enemy and win your fight with him when you become a C.U.I. Pray and read your bible and seek God. You need to operate under the influence. A person who is under the influence of alcohol finds that their speech is effected, there walk is effected, and their attitude and judgment is effected. So it is when a Christian becomes influenced by the spirit our talk is different, our walk is different, our attitude and our judgment will be effected. Let us become full of God and his spirit!
Eph. 5:14 14Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
Eph. 5:15 15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Eph. 5:16 16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Eph. 5:17 17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Eph. 5:18 18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Eph. 5:19 19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Eph. 5:20 20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Tonight is a night of freedom for you. You have power through the blood of Jesus. Tie the Devil up and destroy his work! You are a child of God! You are his chosen people. You are a royal priesthood! Walk into your position and tie the devil up and live free! 1 Pet. 2:9 9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
